Description:

Here is a short 16mm film I made back in 1966. It's your typical home movie with one exception: it was filmed in letterbox format! I had recently purchased a "Vistascope" anamorphic lens which attached over the normal lens & compressed the image when shooting, and when placed over the projector lens, decompressed the image to twice it's width. The same principal is used today. I'm sure few home movies were shot that way. I transferred the film to tape over 25 years ago and leaves a little to be desired, but you'll get the idea. It's a short look at Asbury Park in the years gone by. Filmed: August 1966

I was 3 years old and don't remember much of Asbury Park and moved far away at age 7. We always went to Bradley Beach and Avon, so I don't know much about Asbury Park. But I know all about those jetties. I enjoy this video. The piano sounds like George Winston. I am almost sure it is George.

You know, I may have bumped into you back then. Of course, I am about 9 years younger than you but we always were at the shore in Avon and Bradley Beach.

Wonderful vid Kerry, thanks for sharing an interesting time in American history. I particularly liked the night scene, it reminded me of the nightclub scene in "The Graduate". The views in the film are what Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin would have known and saw.
